Forum moderation: a time to be strict, a time to be lenient

Some forums are moderated in a strict way. If a person asks a question that is either answered in the forum FAQ or forbidden by the forum FAQ, that person's topic may be ended or deleted quickly. When might this be desirable? Perhaps strict moderation should be used if it seems quite likely that members could go off-topic or abuse the forum. If there is a history of problems, then strict moderation might be appropriate.

Other forums have very little moderation. While this can lead to the same questions being asked over and over, disorganized topics, and other forms of abuse, it may be appropriate at times. Lenient moderation is democratic. It asserts that a forum is open, and that it welcomes inqueries. Unlike the above example, it gives the impression that anyone can ask just about any question and expect an answer. (Generally, that is good, but there are exceptions.)

Back Office Webcraft.ws - #60 - How to Make Images Load Faster:

Construction Promotion Training Back Office
Submit your website information to a 1000 search engines and directories.

Your site should respond almost instantly to a request.

It's important to have your web pages load fast as posable because if it takes to long you are going to lose some of your visitors and money. Below is some tips that should help your web site load fast.

1) Use the height and width tags on your images. This will allow the visitor to continue to browse through the other content while the images are still loading.

2) Slice the large images up into smaller parts, so the image will load part by part, instead of just one large image loading.

3) Use image compression software, compression software reduce the image's size, but this also will cause it to lose the image's quality.

4) Try to use the same image on each web page, such as your web site's template, since it's already in the browser's cached it will load much faster.

5) Instead of having the full sized image on the web page, have a smaller version of the image and allow the visitor to click on it to see the larger version of that image.

6) Don't have to many large images on the same web page, it can take forever to fully load if done that way, instead put them on different web pages.
